The challenge
With the potential to become a builder’s nightmare, this Park Road project had difficult access, a steeply sloping site, and construction over three levels.
Two diggers were required to prepare platforms for construction of a pole house and the design called for ‘extreme piling’ in the form of spiral cages with tana-pole piles inserted within the spiral.
The Conqra solution
When the builder came across Conqra’s Eziyaka pre-cast pads at a building merchant, he contacted us for advice. We confirmed that secure foundations could be easily created by placing the Eziyaka pads in the excavation before installing the steel cage and inserting the pile. This would provide a strong base for the pole and cage alignment.
The result
Major cost and time savings were achieved by eliminating the need for wet concrete and concrete pumps. This enabled the builder to align the foundations within one day, instead of the projected three days if wet concrete and pumps had been used. And, Conqra Eziyaka meant there was no need to engage a separate subcontractor and arrange delivery of a concrete truck on a site with difficult access.
Both builder and homeowner were thrilled by the efficiency of the process and the quality of the result. The builder has since used Conqra products on dozens of projects, including retaining walls and re-piling jobs, as well as new house builds.
